What Should I Get Before I Bring My Rabbit Home?

You must make sure you have all the necessities for your rabbit. Rabbits get nervous very fast, and we all know stress is one thing we do not want to give our furry little friend. When I am weaning my rabbits away from their mother I will always put a huge amount of hay into their pen, before I place them in there. This helps them find something to calm them down, and it really works!

Though that is what I do when I am weaning them from their mother, it works the same as when they are taken from their original environment, and placed in a new one.

Here are my suggestions for basic rabbit care:
~ Cage - if outdoor cage make sure that the cage is out of direct sunlight and water cannot penetrate the cage.  And buy the largest cage you can afford.
~ Water bowl/bottle
~ Rabbit feed ( no feed with dried fruit or nuts in it before 6 months of age)
~ Food crock
~ Litter pan if desired
~ Either pine pellets or pine shavings, never use Cedar!
~ Timothy hay or Orchard grass
~ Toys or enrichment items
~ Grooming supplies
~ Nail clipper
